Suggested Step D Listening
By the time you reach Step D you’ve already learnt the majority of songs that are both popular and easy. Step D students should be learning songs that use lots of bar chords, 7th chords, power chords, riffs, melodies and solos.
Here is a list of artists that tend to make music containing the features listed above. Step D students will be skilled enough to learn a very wide range of songs, so only the artist is featured in the list, however our Apple Music, Spotify and YouTube playlists contain the most popular songs by these artists. Most parents find that they too like these artists.
Step D students may also like to learn finger style arrangements of their favourite songs. This means they can learn a relatively simple song but fingerpick the melody and accompaniment at the same time, which greatly increases the difficulty.
